I have several past editions of this guide and find it invaluable for identifying lures. I have identified unknown lures for Russ Lewis for his 6 book series and in the 6th edition of this guide identified an unknown lure... the Ping-a-tee...while it was still in production!!I don't rely on any of these guides for actual but only relative pricing value since condition is a very critical factor in the value of all fishing tackle. This guide along with the 6 volume set by Russell Lewis of more modern fishing tackle really covers anything you will probably find in any tackle box !

I already owned the sixth edition of this book, but purchased the eight edition in hopes that more information would be presented on some of the more obscure lure manufacturers. In some instances, this is the case, however, it seems that the author abbreviated much of the information on the more popular manufacturers in order to save space for the new companies added to the eighth edition. In many cases, I find myself still relying heavily on the older edition. Using both books seems to be the best solution.

This 670-page book contains much more than just descriptions of lures. I got the 5th Edition(1999) which serves me, a novice, very well. It contains lure descriptions, tips on collecting,and an expansive list of lures. I'm certain it will be a valuable reference as I move forward. The cost was a small fraction of the latest edition. I've already found information on a couple of lures that folks on Ebay had listed as "manufacturer unknown.

my husband received an old tackle box full of lures from a friend who just did not want it any more. we knew there were some from the early 20's to 40's,other than that we knew nothing about them. we found several books we thought might help us. we had a tough time deciding between this one and several others on amazon. at the last min we decided to get this one and are we glad. has wonderful history, easy to use index. it is a wealth of information. we have identified dozens of tackle. this book is HIGHLY recommended if you have alot of old lures.

James Joyce's "DUBLINERS" is an exceptional collection of stories/portraits about some of the residents of Dublin, Ireland early in the 20th century. Joyce's writing is lyrical, intimate and insightful. His characters run the gamut from very poor to very wealthy, and all have their personal battles, triumphs, and jarring revelations. I had heard of this book for years, but never read it because I was intimidated by the fear that his writing would be difficult to understand. Well, nothing could be farther from the truth! Joyce writes in a modern tone that is easy to read and understand. His characters could easily be people from our present day, as their situations transcend time and cultures. This is a book to be read one or two stories at a time (the better to reflect upon). As a whole, DUBLINERS is both astounding and fulfilling. I highly - highly - recommend this classic to all readers!

Much has been said about his work, which is one of the problems with Joyce. Â We all know of him, but how many of us have read him? Â I read A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man many years ago, and remember almost nothing of it. Â And like many others before me I tried to tackle Ulysses and got about ten pages in and said, "Bugger this!" (Imagine me saying it in my poor approximation of an Irish accent, and you'll get the idea.) Â But it occurred to me that hearing the words spoken might be exactly the way I should approach Joyce this time, and if it worked, if I found myself enjoying one of the more accessible books, then perhaps the audio book of Ulysses or Finnegan's Wake would go on my list.In the end I discovered that I liked Joyce. Â I'm not a huge fan, but I like the sound of his words, particularly when read by Irish actors. Â And in the Caedmon version, the quality of the narration is up and down, with possibly the best reading being done by Stephen Rea, who gives us a version of The Dead that sounds as if it comes from the depths of a weary soul. Â Props also to Ciaran Hinds, Colm Meany, and Dan O'Herlihy. Â Alas the one Irish actor I'd have loved to hear narrate one of these stories was not included. Â Donal McCann, who left us far too soon, would have done an outstanding job, but it was not to be.As for the stories themselves, I began to see that they were all about who people think they are and why. Â They're brief glances into events, even moments of the characters' lives that are so telling, that make their identities so clear that you come away from each one understanding what they hope for, and why they are suffering.One story in particular -- I don't recall the title at the moment, so apologies for being vague here -- is the best sketch of an alcoholic I have ever read. Â I listened, becoming increasingly impatient with him until I wanted to shove him down the stairs. Â And then I recognized the knowledge that he was fleeing from, and felt terribly sad. Â It didn't excuse him, but it did explain him.I'm not sure if I will go any further with Joyce, even in audio form, but I did enjoy Dubliners tremendously, and that's all you can ask from a book.

I originally had to purchase Dubliners for an English class a couple years ago for a condensed summer semester course. I found this copy online and took advantage of the extremely low price. Even though it is only $1, the copy arrived in good shape as far as the cover and the pages, and it was printed well.I figured this book was going to be like any other book I've had to purchase for a college course. As a student you're pressured to purchase it per the course guidelines and ultimately you do so not to negatively affect your grade since the assignments and exams are based off of the readings. To my surprise, I really really enjoyed this book. My professor was pretty out there, but incredibly smart, and provided insightful information on each chapter from Dubliners. Oddly enough, I still think about these short stories regularly as I see certain themes from the book transpire in my own life. To fully experience James Joyce's Dubliners, I would encourage students / readers to further inspect the events and the characters, especially as they relate from one story to the next. The underlying message that James Joyce weaves throughout the book is one that I will never forget; I will use as motivation in such a crucial point in my life where I'm faced with important decisions and I ultimately get to choose my path and what lies next.I loan out my copy of the book frequently, and would definitely recommend checking it out.

Great book, but this Kindle edition has a number of typos. Example "It was the third stroke" was written as "It was the third store.", making no sense at all. "The cars" was written as "She cars." It was very frustrating, and it's probably worthwhile to pass on this free edition and pay for something that's better edited.

This was recommended as a pre read before I attempt Ulysses later in the year. Went into this collection of shorter stories with some trepidation but found the writing style and delivery relatively palatable. As with most collections I had my preferences.These are more character than action or plot driven, almost "snapshots" in the lives of the inhabitants of Dublin at the turn of the century. Well worth a look at.

sooooo....I got my product a day late but it was due to renumbering of remodeled apartments w/ diff numbering...n e who.....the book was in tact no highlights....I actually am surprised but I read a lot of review before I decided to go w/ this company....good choice.....I wont be as hesitant next semester

The text was very easily laid out and simple. I felt that the length of the chapters was adequate and not to overwhelming. The language of the text was easy to understand, good sentence structure, and of course the diagrams helped. I will be selling this book back to Amazon since a lot of the matieral covered here was more common sense and I won't really benefit anything out of it. Management is not my major so Not to bad to take a $15 "renting" fee for a semester.

So much fluff. I'm not a fan of the textbook industry in general with the constantly "updated" new editions that force poor students to fork over cash while getting little actual value. Related do this, I find it hypocritical that this book has a chapter on business ethics, yet it is in its 11th edition! How ethical is that?I find it interesting that the professors write an entire chapter on entrepreneurship and seem to give great advice for the aspiring entrepreneur for how its done, yet these professors have never actually been entrepreneurs themselves. Anyone could write the advice they give: have a business plan! (duh), work hard (duh), it might not be as easy as you think (again duh). Yet they someone seems to fill an entire 30 page chapter with this obvious advice.There is a lot of writing about things I don't think they actually understand. At one point, its mentioned that when you buy stock, you're giving the company money that they can invest in their business. This is not how the stock market works...when you buy stock you are buy from another trader, the company gets none of your money. Only at the initial public offering (IPO) does a company get money from the public, after that, their stock trades on the secondary market. This is the reason why if companies need more money, they will issue more shares of stock. Just one example of the authors writing about things they don't truly know about, but do because they felt compelled to fill a massive 800 page tome with all kinds of similar crap.Overall, the book's main points could be condensed down to a 30 page pamphlet, and that would have provided the average student with something way more useful. Unfortunately I think most people will be forced to buy this book for a class, but if you're able, please pass. Or see if you can get through the class will a cheaper, used, earlier edition. I sincerely doubt there is a big difference between the 1st and 11th edition of this book.

Really like this book...even though it's a strenuous class, it covers everything I need to know. I might purchase this after the semester to refer to when all is said and done.

I found the context of this material to be rather one sided and lacking real world context. Working in a professional environment for nearly 15 years, I didn't find that much of the content was relatable to the actual business world. The ideas are great in theory, but not so much in application.

This book was on my applied math grad student son's Christmas list, so I bought it for him, and he's thrilled with it. He immediately started reading it to me. Apparently, it is one of those books he checks out for a year at a time from his university's library. It is definitely one he uses often as a reference. Very pleased with this purchase!

Very very good book providing explanations on the basis of hydrodynamics. Covers various topics: NS-equation derivation, irrotational motion, potential fluids, vortexes, waves, viscosity issues and some more. Every step is very well explained. I think is one of the best references in basic fluid dynamics. Only cons: there is no extensive list of the cited papers (at least in my edition, sixth edition/first american edition, 1945), but only a list of the authors.

This is a textbook on fluids in motion and is a revisit of a work done originally in 1879. It is primarily a text of analysis via mathematics and is a pleasure to add to my personal library of technical works.A very good reference for those interested in fluids. Definitely a good add to your technical bucket list reading.

The first edition of this book was published in 1879 when Sir Horace Lamb was a much younger person (he was serving as an officer in international associations in the 1920's). It remains a standard classic text in hydrodynamics, covering the fundamentals of the subject. The basic science has not changed, but solutions to problems have become much more advanced as some processes are better understood, and as computational methods become more advanced. The text covers the basic equations of motion, irrotational motion, fluid motion in two dimensions and problems in three dimensions, the motion of solids through a liquid, vortex motion, tidal waves, surface waves, waves of expansion, viscosity, and rotating fluids. It is recommended as a standard reference for hydrodynamics and physical oceanography.

There is more emphasis on the set of "exactly-solvable" problems than more modern books, because of the arrival of the computer and the availability of the numerical solution. Finally, this is not quite a textbook but more of a collection of articles, so much so that the earlier articles often reference later ones in the book. It's a good place to learn about aspects of fluid dynamics, but it's not an introduction. It's often not an easy read for someone stil unfamiliar with the required mathematics or dynamical principles, but you do get a unique and valuable perspective.

As noted by other reviewers, this is a classic fluid mechanics reference text, but not suitable for detailed explanations or beginners. It also suffers from the usual fluid mechanics problem of notation, and the notation in this book is a little dated. However, once you get used to the "short article" layout (vs chapters) and the notation, you will treasure and use this book a long time.

This is a really well written introduction to astrology. Today I'm reviewing Star Power: A Simple Guide to Astrology for the Modern Mystic by Vanessa Montgomery.Disclaimer: I am going to preface this review with the following statement. I do not practice Wicca. I am not a priestess nor do I claim any religious affiliation. I identify as an atheist witch and my review of any pagan/witchcraft books is presented from this point of view.As always I'll start with the physical attributes of the book. This book is solid. It is not as tall as some of the books I have reviewed but it is substantial. The front and back cover offer tables with the planets, signs and elements. There is no index in this book but there is a page of suggested reading. The images in the book are limited to clip art and some basic line drawings. If you're looking for a book that will tell your sign what to do with an investment I would recommend you select a different book. If you're looking for instruction on how to fully understand a star chart, this is your book.This book starts with a brief history of astrology. And when I say brief, I mean brief. Only one - two pages are dedicated to this. The book also includes a section on the language of astrology. This section is very useful. Time after time I see books that are this directed towards a specific topic, that they forget that someone may be picking up this book for the first time. While I appreciate the advanced studies in many of the pieces I have reviewed to this point, I feel a special connection to those authors who take the time to bring their reader up to speed. Be it with an introduction, a preface or including this type of glossary as a chapter as part of the book. As someone who excelled in vocabulary, I believe that understanding the exact definition of the word the author is using helps me insure that I am on the same page and able to learn as much as I can from the text.I enjoyed the section on unlocking your birth chart (page 12) this section goes into detail about what they are, and how to use them. It contains great images of star charts and offers detailed instructions on learning to read them. The first step however is obtaining your star chart. I have found several websites that offer free star charts and there is a plethora of software out there that you can buy to help you create your own.Each section of this book builds on the previous, there are no quick references here. I have found that this is something you just need to sit down and read to be able to fully understand your own chart.Overall I found this book extremely informative and full of the complete details you need to decipher a star chart. I think that this book will benefit the learned reader but does offer some interest for the beginner. The author guides us through the art of learning to read our own charts and will perhaps open up a interest in reading for others. An excellent guide and I highly recommend.

I loved this book and I think it gives young designers a really good lay of the land as far as career direction and the job market. I found a lot of her advice a little bit advanced for me. I am a junior designer and much of the book seems geared toward designers who are mid-level. For example there is a lot of advice on starting your own business, on freelancing full-time, etc. However the parts of the book on resumes, looking for jobs, specializing, and interviewing were extremely helpful.Overall I think this is a great book. What I think it lacks is a lot of actionable advice. The author definitely leaves much of her observation open-ended. Despite that small downside and the fact that much of the book's topics are a little too advanced for someone like me, I think it is a book that all designers should have in their design library.

Such a great read! Well done! This is such a tough topic because as designers we are creative first. So we have to learn not to take critiques personally for one. We also have to realize that design by committee stinks. We must learn when to fire our clients. We must also learn to only show design ideas we like to the clients, because otherwise they would pick the one you don't like if you added it in their for good measure. It's the push pull of being a creative vs. trying to run a business. It talks about how to try to stay true to yourself creatively and to just go with it if a process gets out of hand, then move on.

Item was described as new, but on arrival it had slight damage on the cover.

A good read for someone about to enter the trade. Old news to anyone who has been there. The stories can be applied to many other professions too.

The edits are relavant to what's going on in graphic design now. As a student, I feel like this book contains a lot of helpful information not always taught in design programs. Get reading!
